Radio Fiesta 2017
Radio Fiesta 2017 was a great success for the San Antonio Radio Club and the many participants. This was an ARRL Affiliated Event that was held in the Schertz Convention Center in Schertz, Texas, on the northeast side of the Greater San Antonio Metropolitan Area.
The number one fact: Radio Fiesta 2017 sold out of dealer and flea market tables the day before it opened on January 14, 2017.
Setup started the afternoon before at 4:00 p. m. and ran into the night. It then finished the next morning between 6:30 a. m. and 8:00 a. m.
Throughout the morning, Radio Fiesta 2017 was busy. In addition to activities in the Main Hall and in the Tailgate area, there were presentations as a part of the program in two separate spaces. ARRL had a table in the foyer area across from the General Admission table and just beyond them was the DX Card Check table. For the weary, there was a break area. The Samuel Clemens Cheer Booster was providing refreshments in a mix that changed as the day wore on.
Just before noon, Volunteer Examiners went down to the Schertz Library where they set up and conducted amateur radio license testing.
At 1:00 p. m., the Raffle Drawing was conducted. The first prize was an Alinco DX-SR8T 100W All Mode HF (160m to 10m) Transceiver. The second prize was a Yaesu FTM-3100 65W 144MHz FM Mobile Transceiver. There were two third prize Baofeng UV-5RT Hand Held Dual-Band [2M VHF, 70CM UHF] Transceivers.
